Bills aaye toh shock – claim nahi mila!
Aisa hi hua hai lakho Indians ke saath. Insurance lena zaroori hai, lekin galat policy choose kar li toh paise barbaad + tension double.
Aaj baat karenge 5 aisi galtiyon ki, jo log baar‑baar karte hain – aur phir itna pachtate hain ki dimaag mein bas yehi chalta rehta hai:
“Achha hota agar maine time pe sahi decision le liya hota!”
1. Sirf “premium sasta” dekhke policy kharid lena – coverage pe dhyaan hi nahi dena
Mumbai ke Rahul ko ek “super deal” wala health plan mila – sirf 5,000 rupees saal ka premium, 5 lakh sum assured. Rahul ne socha, “Bhai, yeh to bilkul jackpot hai!” Khush‑khush sign kar diya.

- Sirf premium mat dekho, coverage, room rent limit, ICU, OPD, waiting period sab check karo.
- Agar policy mein “sab bil cover” jaisa ghost‑promise likha ho, toh ek baar khud padho ya agent se bol do detail mein samjhao.
2. Terms & conditions ko “boring paper” samjke padhe bina sign kar dala
Chennai ki Nita ne life insurance le li – agent ne bola, “Sab safe hai, aapka family secure hai.” Nita ne sirf 2 page padhe, baaki ignore kar diya.
2 saal baad unke husband ko diabetes aur high BP ka problem doctor ne confirm kiya. Jab unhone critical illness rider ka claim nikalna chaaha, to company ne bol diya –
“Pre‑existing disease ke liye 4 saal waiting period hai, aur aapne clause padha hi nahi!”
Result: claim reject, aur Nita sirf itna sochti rahi – “Agar maine 10 minute bhi extra padhe the, toh yeh paise aaj meri family ke haath mein hote!”
Lesson:
- Policy document mein waiting period, exclusions, claim process wale lines highlight karo.
- Agar English samajh nahi aati, to agent se loud bol do: “Is hisse ko Hindi mein explain karo.”
- Agar baad mein kuch samajh nahi aaya, to free‑look period (15–30 days) mein cancel bhi kar sakte ho (thoda sa deduction hoga).

3. Family grow ho gayi, par policy wahi purani chhod di
Delhi ke Amit ki shaadi hui, 2 bacche hue, house change hua, lifestyle up ho gayi… lekin unki life insurance wahi rahi – sirf 20 lakh sum assured, jo 10 saal pehle le liya tha.
Aaj kal 20 lakh se kya kya cover hota hai?
School fees, EMI, car, travel – sab double ho gaya, lekin insurance ka amount soya reh gaya.
Agar aaj Amit ko kuch ho jaye, to unki family ke liye wohi 20 lakh kaafi nahi rahenge, aur Amit ko khud bhi lagta rahega – “Maine planning hi itni ghatee cheeze ko ignore kiya!”
Lesson:
- Har 3–5 saal mein policy review zaroor karo.
- New goals add karo – bacchon ki education, home loan, retirement, vacation.
- Thoda extra premium dekar riders jod do – critical illness, disability, accidental cover. Ye small extra cost, future mein badi relief de sakta hai.
4. Agent ki “batao–maanlo” policy se bina compare kiye plan le lena
Hyderabad ke Vijay ne ek agent se car insurance le li. Agent bol raha tha – “Ye sabse best plan hai, number‑1 company hai, bas yahi lo.”
Vijay ne bharosa karke policy le li.
Phir ek din flat par accident hua, claim karne par pata chala – “Apne NCB loss cover nahi liya, isliye paise kam milenge.”
Jab Vijay ne online comparison kiya, toh pata chala – ek aur company ka plan sasta tha + NCB loss cover bhi tha.
Agent ko commission chahiye tha, Vijay ko best deal nahi.
Lesson:
- Kabhi bhi sirf ek agent / ek company par pure bharosa mat rakhna.
- Policybazaar, InsuranceDekho, Paytm Insurance jaise sites se quotes compare karo.
- Agar lag raha ho agent tesra de raha hai, jaldi sign karwane ko force kar raha hai, toh thoda break le lo, research karo, phir decide karo.
5. Policy ko time‑to‑time renew hi nahi karna – aur phir pachtana
Bangalore ki Priya ne health insurance 3 saal pehle le li thi, lekin ek saal pehle premium bharna bhool gayi. Policy lapse ho gayi.
Shuru mein laga – “Koi baat nahi, zarurat padegi toh nayi le lenge.”
Lekin agle saal priya ka accident hua, leg mein fracture ho gaya. Naya policy le li, lekin pre‑existing injury ke liye 2 saal waiting period tha.
Operation ke liye paise bahut aage‑bache, aur priya khud se bolti rahi – “Bas ek reminder ya auto‑debit set kar liya hota, toh abhi situation itni khatarnak nahi hoti!”
Lesson:
- Auto‑debit / auto‑renew option zaroor on karo.
- Agar koi policy lapse ho hi gayi ho, toh nayi lete waqt waiting period samajh kar hi sign karo.
- Grace period (15–30 din) ka fayda le, lekin use hu‑hum bana kar mat rehna, warna ek din bill kaata jaayega aur aap stand pe khade raho.
Last mein – kyu yeh sab itna important hai?
Insurance koi lottery ticket nahi hai – ye ek long‑term safety net hai.
- Agar sahi choose karo, toh tumhari family ko itne load se bacha sakte ho.
- Agar galat choose karo, toh yeh extra monthly bill + extra tension dono ban jata hai.
Toh agle baar jab bhi insurance len ki baat ho –
- Thoda extra time do,
- Thoda extra question poocho,
- Aur thoda extra comparison karo.
Kyunki tumhari policy ki galti, sirf ek bill nahi – tumhari poori life ka risk bana sakti hai.
